It is time to celebrate Dad this Father’s Day. Father’s Day was established in 1972 to become a national holiday in the United States. Father’s Day is celebrated each year on the third Sunday in June. This year, Father’s Day is on June 17, 2018.

The Story of Father’s Day actually goes back to 1908. According to history, a West Virginia church sponsored the nation’s first event to explicitly honor fathers, but it was a one-time celebration, not an annual holiday. The next year a woman, named Sonora Smart Dodd, wanted to establish an official equivalent of Mother’s Day. She was raised by a widower (her father) and wanted to do something special for him. Slowly the holiday caught on.

Today Father’s Day still hold some of the same sentimental meaning we saw in 1908. It is a chance for children to show or tell their father’s how much they truly mean to them. So the biggest question of all is:

“What should we do with Dad to celebrate Father’s Day?”
